The Love Streaming In Like Light residential interior design, created by Marcus Lai, is a stunning transformation of a 40 to 50-year-old house into a bright and inviting home. The design was inspired by the couple's preferences for loft and Nordic styles, resulting in a fusion that varies with each section and time of day. The design prioritizes family values and aims to create a space that encourages bonding and communication among family members.

One of the unique features of this design is the integration of storage based on the functions of each section. The one-piece cabinetry next to the dining room corresponds with the concealed door frames of the master bedroom and the kid's room, creating a sense of integrity throughout the space. This integration not only maximizes storage but also creates the illusion of an enlarged living room, providing a shared space for parents and children.

The design also takes into consideration the technical aspects of the renovation. Due to the height and slant of the building, structural reinforcement was necessary. The layout was kept simple, with an unadorned ceiling in the living room to reduce eye strain. The kitchen features a semi-open bar and suspended iron for storage, creating a neat and individualistic texture when paired with light surface gray walls. The use of diverse gradations of lighting highlights the kitchen as a focal point.

The master bedroom is designed with restfulness in mind. To accommodate the different bedtime habits of the couple, switches on either side of the headboard and concealed charging plugs allow for reading or cellphone use without disturbing one's partner. The wood-vein closet and dresser contribute to a relaxing space and provide ample storage for clothing.

This design project took place in Taipei, Taiwan, from January to April 2019. The challenges of limited space were overcome by incorporating thoughtful details such as a bench fixed with triangle iron and shelves in the entryway for convenience in changing shoes. Retro-style tiles mark the transition to the living room, while glass replaces a solid wall in the stairway to allow natural light to flow into the dining room downstairs.

The Love Streaming In Like Light design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This award acknowledges the design's outstanding qualities and its contribution to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
